Project monitoring week 3

Project management week 3
This week in my schedule I had planned to finish my second draft of England: Dreams and hopes article, to finish this article I had to ask to football fans what they thought of England’s chances of winning the world cup. This has aloud to me to finish the whole of the article in full, the third draft on my article will be complete for homework so next week I can start setting up the triple page spread in InDesign and Photoshop. Now that the article is written I will complete the whole article by the end of next week. The photo-shoot for this article is taking place on the 7th February, for the photo-shoot I have planned is to use four models with props to make it look as if they are at an England match.

My other article; Young, English and Unnoticed has turned out to be a complete disaster. The interview that I had set up with Curtis Main has collapsed so after sitting down with my assessor and put together a contingency plan. The article is going to be a cross between the history of Darlington and how the club was saved.  Yesterday when I was walking down Duke Street I was lucky enough to bump into Shaun Campbell, who was part of the organisation that saved Darlington I managed to arrange an interview for Monday. I will be asking Shaun questions about how he impacted Darlington and how they were saved the club.

This week has made me think that I need to make sure that everything I am going to be doing over the next few weeks stays on schedule because anything can change very quickly. With what I have learnt this week is that my articles need to make sure that they stick to plan and don’t find any problems.

Project monitoring: Week 2

Project monitoring: Week 2

Following my schedule this week was focused upon writing my England: Dreams and Hopes article as well as having my photo shoot for my Darlington article within this week. The photos below are two images that I am going to be definitely using in my article, then reason why I have chosen to use these images are because there are two very different photographs: one cheering and the other one a disappointing one. Also the lighting in the second photo enhances the darkness of the

The article that I have been writing is coming along as I wanted it, due to my photo shoot I have had to break up my writing time which is why I have assigned it to homework slot one. The way that I have written this article as if I am talking in first person which has worked out harder that I thought it was going to be but by using the research I was able to use what I found to my advantage, as I said in my treatment I am going to be using first and second person which I have stuck by. This created some hurdles I had to get other at some points I did stumble which did account for me loosing time when I was just dragging a paragraph out, so I had to make a few changes to make sure that the reader would not get bored of reading them same thing that I had said at the start of the paragraph but in different words.

The final objective was to hopefully hear back from Middlesbrough FC which was the other one of my article, so with not having heard back from them I am going to be switching to my contingency plan which is my Darlington season plan. I will have to change a lot of my ideas but what I have planned is achievable. This is a bit of a disappointment because I was looking forward to creating a interview article with a big player at a big club, but as I had planned for in my original of creating an article about Darlington

Project monitoring: Week 1

Project monitoring: Week 1

At the start of this week I began construction of my A2 schedule, this task will help to me to make sure that the tasks that I have set myself over the next five weeks will be completed, This will allow me on the 15th February to make sure that all tasks are complete and my final project with all modifications is ready to hand in. The plan that I have used while creating this task is to finish writing my articles for my two triple page spreads first as it will allow me to shape the rest of the magazines around the text, this allows me time for the last two weeks to make any alterations to the magazine e.g. images, layout. The reason that I organised it this way is because I feel that if I get the writing side of the project done first I know that I will be able to construct the rest of my magazine around this, also the reason for me laying my schedule out like this is because when we created our AS project last year I found it much easier when the articles were written to when it came to my photo shoot I know exactly what type of images I would need to take.

I believe that if I stick to exactly what needs to be done on the schedule, the tasks that I have set are realistic. In the past units I have fallen behind in work so with this unit I need to make sure that I stay on task with what I have set myself. With the help of the schedule I know what needs to be done in each lesson allowing me to finish the project on time, one of the weakness I fine about myself it keeping track of tasks allowing them to build up until I have a lot to catch up on, so by using the schedule the tasks that I have set are a reachable goal if I keep my mind to it. The article that I had planned to do was: England: Hopes and Dreams and Young, English and Unnoticed, for one of my articles I had to plan a contingency just in case what I had planned to do for this article was not achievable, Young, English and Unnoticed, the reason why I have done this is because with the interview that I had planned may not be achievable. The biggest challenges that I am going to face with this assignment is the Young, English and Unnoticed because if I cannot get the interview I will not be able to use this idea in my final product so I will have to refer to my contingency plan which would be easy to achieve. Another problem that I will be facing is myself, I need to make I use my time correctly allowing myself time to complete the project, as I struggle at project management I need to stick to the schedule day-by-day so I can complete the tasks.
