Project monitoring-week 5

Project monitoring-week 5

This week I started to put all the pieces into place. Both my photo shoots and the photographs that I needed have been taken, both the Darlington and England triple page spreads have been written and photos have been taking now in the last week I am going to be working through all breaks, dinners and free lesson to complete the whole project. This week I have been focusing on my front cover, when looking at other magazines in the same genre I decided that I would base my project around this, when it came to putting the images in the idea that I created did not look professional, an almost thrown together front cover. This week I have fallen behind the schedule because having used the Monday lesson to take the photos for Darlington photo shoot and then the Thursday lesson for my England photo shoot.

With a week remaining to finish the project I will be using lesson time to place and shape all of the article then using the free time I have in and outside of college to put the finishing touches to the articles. The thing that I have found difficult while creating this project was time keeping to the schedule that I set myself, the reason why I have not made a major impact onto my magazine was due to poor decisions.

The pictures that I have taken this week are going to be used in every single page of the magazine, the one article that is going to take time to put together is the Darlington first page, the reason for this is that the photos that I have taken around Darlington are going to be used in a college of images that if someone from Darlington was to read the article they would know each location.  With the England photo shoot the idea that I pictured in my head did not come together as well as I would have liked to, when the props were ordered the wigs did not arrive for two of the models, which had a slight impact on how two of models looked compared to the main focus model. The outcome of the photos wasn’t as bad as I first though because the impact I wanted from the photo shoot was to look like three average England fans, in a way that they were not excited about the upcoming world cup but if they read the article they would change their mind which is why I intent to use a duller image at the start of the article then a more happy, excited look towards the end of the article.

My front cover is coming on just I would like, looking like FourFourTwo I was using the look that they created to base my magazine around a similar idea. With the front cover of FourFourTwo it has a big impact to the reader, using this technique I will create and similar looking front cover.

Project Monitoring- Week 4

Project Monitoring- Week 4

This week was a major turning point in my project as I found out that I was going to have to totally change my second idea for my double page spread, the critical impact of this was the change to my contingency plan (Darlington article). The thing with the article was that it is not going to be anything like I had planned in my treatment, with the idea in full motion I have completed an interview with Shaun Campbell.  The questions that I asked Shaun really helped me piece together how Darlington football club was saved. The major contribution that this interview has helped to shape my article because as my unique selling point was to focus on low and northern league teams, with Darlington they have a lot of depth that I found could be investigated, such as the event last year where the club nearly folded and how the community and fans came together in the eleventh hour to pour money into the club .This was a major part of this article, now to complete this article I need to redraft the short article as well as completing the collage of images of Darlington and finish the timeline of the history Darlington FC. With Middlesbrough letting me down I knew that I had to act fast to be able to come up with an idea to replace it, with the help of assessor we came up with the idea of an interview/overview of Darlington history.

With my England article finished all I need to focus on is actually creating the article in In Design and the photo shoot is planned for the 7th February. The plan for my photo shoot is to have three models dressed up in England associated t-shirt, face paint, hats/wigs, with the St Georges flag draped around all three of them. The idea of this photo shoot came about when I read an article that was aimed straight for England fans.

This week I have gone quite of schedule due to my interview at University and having to interview Shaun but know that I have all of my articles written I can focus over the next two weeks on creating and finishing my triple page spreads. The next two weeks are going to very crucial in allowing me to finish my project on time, now that I have everything I need to finish the two triple page spread I am going to be working very hard to make sure that my project will meant the standard that I set when I gave my pitch.
